Then he moved to
Grenoble, France for 5 years or so, where he bought some nice
yellow plectrums and started writing songs again. With Gowzza
Powell and Calumn Mackay he formed a band called The
Jumpjets. Funded by a mini tour of prestige rural bars
and brothels the band recorded the spectacularly unsuccessful
album A Little Bit Happy.
Since moving back to the UK in the late nineties Johnny has
recorded three albums on his own, the latest being I Was a
Teenage Sex Kitten. In between playing local gigs,
writing and recording new songs and trying to keep his
long-suffering family happy, Johnny's next album already has
a working title of Bad Tempered Girlfriend...
Johnny can also often be found lurking on a Monday night at
Southampton's Candle Club open mic
evening, where he is usually the compere for the evening and
ruthless host of the legendary Rubbish Jokes competition
