Science Fiction (from "Elvis in my Pocket)
I used to have a really bad addiction
Spent my life watching TV science fiction
A cause of social life constrictions
And an increasing amount of domestic friction
But for me it was my religion
And I worshipped those actors with latex wigs on
My wife imposed a total prohibition
On anything to do with deep space expeditions
But one night, without her permission
She caught me watching an old Star Trek transmission
She made some rather grim predictions
Including my imminent crucifixion
I paid the price for my dereliction
My immediate my sudden my painful eviction
Even though I made a full and frank admission
She gave me a divorce petition
Then I noticed she didn't have her ring on
She threw it at me and said I should marry a Klingon
Now I'm a homeless ex-Trekkie with malnutrition
I face the final frontier of poverty and attrition
Exploring alien bedsits no man should have to live in
Seeking out new life and more sanitary conditions
Now my phasers have all been decommissioned
And I'm not going very boldly on my sad new mission
