Elvis In My Pocket
I've got a photograph of
Elvis in my pocket
A couple of coins, some chewing gum, and a
Silver heart-shaped locket
Its body heat is all I need
To know I'm still alive
But I can't remember the last time
I had to look inside it
On my wall now on my floor
Oh I don't need it any more
The beautiful dream wasn't what it seemed
Now I don't need it any more
I've got a wardrobe full of
Postcards from Memphis
A couple of Strats, my old DMs, and a
Suitcase full of dresses
And even though you left me
As naked as the day that I was born
I can't remember the last time
I had to try one on
You spread your whispers and arms around me
Then you threw me away
Just like you found me
Oh on my wall now on my floor,
I don't need it any more
On my wall now on my floor
I don't need it any more
The beautiful dream
Tell me baby was it what it seemed
The beautiful dream
I'm telling you it wasn't what it seemed
The beautiful dream
Is on my floor
